  • Eyelash Extensions
Before your appointment: If you use waterproof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your first appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly. Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup-free eyes. Remove contact lenses before your appointment During the initial 24-48 hours after your appointment: Do not get your lashes wet for 24 hours after the lash extensions are applied. It will affect the efficacy of the glue. Avoid steam from showers, facials, saunas and swimming pools. Avoid getting moisture around the eye area when washing face, showering etc. Avoid tanning beds for 48 hours after application. Avoid chemical peels, waxing or laser treatments around the eyes General guidelines to extend the life of your lashes: Avoid using oil-based skincare and makeup products around the eye, including mascara and makeup remover. Avoid waterproof mascara. If you can, it is better not to use any mascara at all. You may find you don’t even need it! Avoid running water over your face. Moisture will break down the bond of the glue. Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes, especially when washing your face. It is recommended to clean around the eye area with a washcloth or cotton swab (Q-tip). Avoid using an eyelash curler. One of the benefits of lash extensions is the ability to add curl to your lashes. If you would like more curl, please speak to your technician. If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow. Gently brush your lashes with a mascara wand to groom them. The best time to do this is after showering, as they will be softer and less likely to damage. Avoid pulling your lashes, and do not attempt to remove them yourself. If you would like them removed, please contact your technician.
  • Brow Lamination
Before your appointment: Do not apply retinol to the face area Arrive with a clean face, no makeup. After your appointment: Do not apply makeup or receive any other eye treatment for 24 hours. Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure. Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before the procedure. Avoid Fish Oil, Primrose Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements for a minimum of 48 hours prior to procedure. Discontinue Retin-A, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) at least 6 weeks prior After your appointment: It’s important not to get the brows wet during the healing process (10-14 days). Wash brows with an antibacterial soap 3-4 times before going to sleep. Pat dry and use witch hazel pads (make sure you pat and do not wipe). When applying ointments, the following procedure is done each morning and night or before a shower or workout for the full 10 days: Dab each brow with witch hazel pads morning and night. However, starting on day three when scab starts to appear, do not wipe - only dab till dry, you must be gentle, do not pull off the scabs prematurely. Your brows should remain moist all day and all night. Following this procedure will ensure the formation of thin scabs thus more color retention. Keep out of the sun for 14 days. Wear sunscreen to aid in the longevity of your tattoo. As instructed, apply the ointments with freshly washed hands or a Q-tip. Never touch the procedure area without washing your hands immediately before. It is very important to keep the brows covered with ointment while in shower or during a strenuous workout to prevent moisture from penetrating. Remove ointment per above instructions. Do not scrub, rub or pick at the epithelial crust that forms. Allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready the pigment underneath it can be pulled out. Do not use any makeup on the brows for at least 14 days. After the procedure is completely healed, you may go back to your regular cleansing and makeup routine. Avoid scrubbing the area. Use sunblock after the procedure area is healed to protect from sun fading. Warnings - Do Not use any Retin-A or Glycolic Acids in the brow area during or after healing! Do Not scrub or pick treated areas! Do Not expose area to the sun or tanning beds! Avoid swimming pool for 14 days! Do Not dye or tweeze eyebrows for one week after the procedure! Failure to follow post procedure instructions may result in infection or loss/discoloration of pigment.

Discontinue Retin-A, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) at least 6 weeks prior Must wait 4 months after lip fillers and 6 weeks after touch-up. It is possible to have poor color retention in lips that have had collagen injections within 4 months, and within a year of Restylane. There is the risk of pigment migration along the lip line if you have had Restylane. Wait six months after a lip implant Avoid the following herbs and spices 48 hours before procedure: ginger, cinnamon, garlic, black and cayenne pepper. NON negotiable ***** All lip tattoo clients must contact a doctor for a prescription of an antiviral medication (Valtrex) to prevent a herpes outbreak. Start taking medication 2 days prior and continue for 3 days post procedure. After your appointment: Your skin will be temporarily sensitized after the treatment and you should adhere to the following instructions for the next seven (7) days. This will help avoid infection and will allow time for the skin to recover. If you apply makeup during the 7 days following the treatment, you do so at your own risk. You can cleanse the treatment area two or three times a day if needed, using warm water, and a lint free wipe. Clients who have been prescribed an antibiotic cream should follow the instructions of their medical practitioner. Apply a Polysporin ointment with a cotton swab only (no fingers) for the first 2-3 days. Healing will take up to four weeks and it is perfectly normal for the treated area to scab. These scabs will fall off within a few days. It is normal for the colour to fade during the two weeks following the treatment. During the post treatment period, please avoid the following: Kissing for two weeks Spicy and salty food Using soaps, cleansers, creams or makeup on the treated area. Facial treatments, waxing and using any form of bleach. Any abrasive products, rough towels or similar. Sunbathing, and tanning beds. Taking hot baths, saunas, steam, swimming pools, salt water, and any direct shower spray on the treated area. If area does get wet, just pat dry with a Kleenex. DO NOT TOUCH or PICK the small scabs that may appear after the treatments. Let them slough off naturally, otherwise you may disrupt the pigment retention. Should an infection occur, seek medical attention
  • I don't see any Gentlemen's facial listed on your service menu, why's that?
Skin is skin to me! I don't need to specify or dedicate one facial "for men" when I would be customizing it to your specific needs anyways.
  • Will my hair grow back thicker from dermaplaning?
No. I promise it won't. People just get used to not seeing the vellus (peach fuzz) hair, and then when it grows back, it will look just like it did before. So it is assumed it is thicker and darker, but in reality people just forgot what it looked like before.
  • Can I know the ingredients of products ahead of time?
YES! Please just reach out ASAP so I can give you plenty of time to review the list of products that may be used in your service. If you are very sensitive or would like to do a patch test for a product, go ahead and book that on my booking site. Make sure it is at least 48 hours before your appointment so we can make sure all is good.
  • How should I prepare for my appointment?
Make sure to check out pre & post care for skin care services to make sure you are prepped for your service. Take a long deep breath, tell yourself how amazing you are, and drink some water. THEN make sure you arrive with little to no makeup if possible, this helps ensure you get the full time for the treatment. If you do NOT fill out forms 24 hours ahead of time (check your email & spam) make sure you arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. If you have any specific questions then reach out to us. K thats it, cannot WAIT to see you!
  • What makes you different than any other spa or skin care clinic?
Besides being the funniest Esthetician around... I do try to set Newman Esthetics apart in a few different ways. 1. I approach skin health first and foremost and help correlate any skin issues by also talking to you about other lifestyle factors. Such as diet, supplements, stress levels, body movement, etc. The skin is your biggest organ and is interconnected with so much more of our bodies than we realize, so I like to approach a skin issue in other ways than JUST slapping a cream on your face. 2. I want to make Newman Esthetics comfortable for ALL people, ethically. I will never sell you a product or service you don't need. I will always accept you just as you are. No judgments here. 3. Newman Esthetics cares about the environment, and one of my biggest worries when opening was the waste my business could possibly reduce. Currently I turn all my single use items into clean energy through a program called, Green Circle Salons. I also use reusable towels in the bathroom, reusable wax pads, reusable tools instead of cotton swabs (when appropriate), shipping packaging from products we purchased is up-cycled for other businesses to use. Theses are a few examples of what I currently do, with some goals for becoming more environmentally friendly in the future.
  • Isn't skincare just for women?
The biggest reason to open up my own business and pour my whole life into this endeavor is to show the world that ALL PEOPLE NEED SKINCARE. We all have skin and it is literally our biggest organ... so why do women only need to take care of it? It is for everybody. Everybody needs to take care of their physical and mental health, and your skin is part of your physical AND mental health. I am here to help you with whatever your skin needs and will never judge or shame anybody walking into my doors.
  • Why wax?
    1. Waxing regularly keeps you hairless longer than shaving. 2. Not because your S.O. told you to. Only because you like the feel of heckin' smooth skin. No pressure here to de-fuzz though.
  • Does waxing hurt?
Mind over pain, or whatever they say... but not as bad as what your bff told you.
  • How long does the hair need to be in order to be waxed!?
Hair must be at least 1/4" long (about the size of a grain of rice) to be able to be removed. No shaving at least 2-3 weeks if you are a newbie waxer. At least 4 weeks if you are a seasoned hairless cat. If you have shaved within the last two or four weeks, and schedule an appointment to have your hair ripped out, there is no guarantee there won't be tons of stragglers left behind to fend on their own.
  • What should I do before my waxing appointment? What about after?
Before your wax appointment: Exfoliate at least 24 hrs before your appointment, not the day of. Best to also shower or clean up before you come in, coming straight from the gym is probably not the best. Your hair must be 1/4 inch long. Which is the size of a grain of rice, it takes most people 3-5 weeks to grow that length. After your wax appointment: No sweating, swimming, sexing, or any activity that gets heaps of dirt and oil clogged in your freshly depilated skin. If you can't wait to hop on your harley through 95 degree weather for 80 miles, ingrown hairs and pimples galore are in your future. No deodorant for underarm waxes 24-48 hours after. Staying away from highly fragranced products is also recommended. (Bonus Answer)Between Wax appointments: Keep exfoliating with a dry brush every few days, and make sure to put your next appointment in your calendar. If you are really an A+ wax-ee, then using an ingrown hair serum a few days a week will really put you at the top. NO shaving. Keep your appointments 4-5 weeks apart for best results over time.
